In this week's Dose, I talk about ...
Taking inventory with the Wheel of Life to learn where you need to focus to develop a well-balanced life in 2023.


The WOL isn't my idea, but a useful tool to visualize & assess your overall quality of life.

I provide an explanation of how to use the downloadable worksheet at the end of this email.

The 8 dimensions of the Wheel of Life:

  1. Health & Wellness
  2. Personal Growth
  3. Finance
  4. Community
  5. Fun
  6. Spirituality
  7. Professional
  8. Relationships

8 key areas to examine to help determine where you need to focus in 2023.

Think of it like setting a budget for your life.

A way to understand where your resources are going in comparison to where you'd LIKE them to go.

We feel like we have a grasp on it all until we take the time to write it down.

Until we get very intentional with these dimensions, we'll lack clarity in what direction to take.

When we lack clarity, we either don’t take action or we take action that has no impact.

And we want to take impactful action that helps us create our best life this year.

The hardest part is being 100% honest with yourself while rating these.

But it's time to take inventory as you head into 2023.

Start by rating all 8 dimensions from 1-10.

Then pick the TOP 3 areas you'd like to improve, identify what would deem successful improvement, and create a daily game plan to follow to improve your scores.

Revisit your scores at the end of each month and repeat.

At first, the rating will be a gut feeling - fully subjective.

As you use this more and more, you’ll define what “success” means for each dimension and you'll be able to rate based on specific criteria.

When defining your success metrics, think of behaviors & beliefs instead of outcomes/endpoints.

The secret to ANY change is to change your thoughts & beliefs.

You have to obsess over changing your beliefs and how you think in order to get the change you’re after.

Instead of “Get a six-pack” think “Become someone who loves their body and lives clean”.

Instead of I want more meaning & purpose in my life.

It’s I want to become the TYPE of person who lives a life full of meaning & purpose.

Subtle, but a HUGE difference.

You control what you think, how you show up, and what you do each day.


Here are the 3 dimensions I’m focusing on to start 2023:

1. Community. Current score: 3/10

After moving 16 times in 12 years, I’ve felt the effects of not establishing roots in any one place.

I love all the friends I’ve made across the globe, but I know it’s time to build something meaningful locally.


2. Professional. Current score: 5/10

I love what I do for work, but I need to get better at the business side.

I’ve invested $24k in coaching in 2022 because I know the payoff will be 10X.

2023 is the year I turn what’s been more of a full-time side hustle into a machine that helps as many people as possible.


3. Relationships. Current score: 2/10

I haven’t been in a relationship in 6.5 years.

Long-time friends or even new people I meet think it’s because I’ve wanted to play the single game.

But that’s never been true.

I’ve never been interested in the hookup or bachelor game. But I’ve battled my own insecurities for years.

In the last 2 years, seeing my best friends raise their first kids, I’ve realized how much I want children of my own.

And I've been avoiding what I need to work on most.

I’ve needed to address my limiting beliefs about relationships and I know what we resist most is what we need most.

So no more avoiding, time to face it head-on.

Download the Wheel of Life worksheet and score your 8 dimensions.

Pick the 3 MOST IMPORTANT to focus on.

Build them up to at least an 8/10 before you move on to another dimension.
