Thought of the week:
“Real change is difficult at the beginning, but gorgeous at the end. Change begins the moment you get the courage and step outside your comfort zone." - Roy T Bennett

You have to be willing to embrace the difficult to experience the gorgeous.

In this week's Dose, I talk about the importance of finding your edge in life (and what it means).

Finding your edge is coming face to face with the line you must cross in order to FEEL life.

It's allowing yourself to step outside of your comfort zone to grow physically & mentally.

To do something that's fear-inducing, yet exciting.

Something that requires skill, but isn't impossible.

Pursuing your edge is honoring your innate primal nature.

It's the process of getting lost in the present moment.

It's no place for the thinking mind to live.

Something that allows you to embrace being and to forget about the past & future.

That you can prepare, grind, and sweat for.

It's not about the activity, it's about you losing yourself so you can find yourself.

Whether you're pushing yourself to try something new, signing up for a competition, joining a challenge, or doing a cold plunge, it could be anything.

We're so focused on trying to BECOME someone, that we fail to do the things that make us lose ourselves in the process. (Boyd Varty)

That's where our edge lives.

We were BUILT to struggle, persevere, and adapt.

We become our best selves when we're constantly challenged and pushing our boundaries.

Mel Robbins said it best, "If you feel stuck, it means you're no longer growing."

And I know how many of you have told me you feel a little stuck right now.

You need your edge back.

Look, it's hard to find it.

It's easier to have a couple beers, put on Netflix, sit on the couch for 4 hours until it's time to go to bed, and repeat it all again tomorrow.

But easy sucks.

Without our edge, we don't FEEL our life.

When we can't feel life, we compensate with...

Booze, drugs, porn, weed, TV shows, gossip, gambling, work.

We lean on those things for the FEELINGS they give us.

That's a fake world. The real world lives inside of you.

It appears when you tap into your true self and pursue what fires you up.

You owe it to yourself to listen to your gut, take a leap of faith, and get out of your damn comfort zone.

The beauty of life is waiting for you.

ps, My edge has been jiu-jitsu for the last 15 months (and my business).🥋

Today is my 3rd tourney this year and I signed up knowing full well I could get my ass kicked.

I could have put it off due to injuries, lack of conditioning, or wanting to be "ready".

But this week, one of my coaches said "You're moving really well and if you compete more it will really take your game to the next level."

The next level?? Say less! So I signed up that night.

I'm nervous, but I know that pushing through my fear will make me a better human.
