Thought of the week:
"The ultimate value of life depends upon awareness and the power of contemplation rather than upon mere survival." - Aristotle

In this week's Dose, I talk about how to get more out of 2023 by focusing on the WHO instead of the WHAT or the HOW.

This is straight out of my journal entry from Monday this week.

About 9 months ago, I found the idea of being intentional with the kind of person you need to become in order to hit your goals to be highly effective.

Instead of thinking, What do I need to do?

It's Who do I need to become? What do I need to believe?

So I wanted to take it up a notch.

I wanted to approach 2023 differently than years past.

To focus on WHO I want to become instead of WHAT I want to do.

And what feelings, traits, & beliefs I want to take on as my own.

I've been in discovery mode the last 2 years.

Learning to reinvent myself post-tech sales and post-depression.

Starting to redefine who I am.

2022 consisted of deep self-discovery, challenges, and learning what I'm capable of.

I've become aware of so much I need to work on, let go of, & embody in order to live the life I believe I can.

2023 is the year I lean into presence and understand what consciousness means to me.

I overcome the fears & insecurities that still hold me back from high school.

Ones that hold me back from a life of creation & pure possibility.

It's the year I get out of my own damn way.

It's the year, starting now, I embody being a coach, entrepreneur, skilled BJJ student, and a man who loves & allows himself to be loved through vulnerability.

A man who leads by example, not because he has all the answers, but because he's comfortable in the fact that he doesn't.

To lead with integrity, love, empathy, & a drive to get better.

It's the year I choose to see the good in people & every situation.

To have a default perspective of goodness, love, & high integrity.

I listen to what others need and not what I want.

I quiet my ego.

It's the year of BELIEF.

To examine, challenge, and reprogram beliefs that don't help create the life I want.

Ridding all that doesn't serve and cultivating only that which does.

The year to finally trust myself that I am worthy & extremely capable.

To lean into my leadership of men & have fun along the way.

The year I embrace stillness, inner peace, truth, & connection to nature.

I choose happiness & joy.

I choose dance & singing.

I choose light & fun.

I know darkness and that's no place for me anymore.

The year I reinvent myself.

To hone my point of view and come into my own.

Where ideas flow easily, my writing improves, and my message resonates more and more because it is clear, simple, and profound.

By profound I mean it moves something inside of others.

The year I understand that this is my path & to stop resisting it.

To learn that resistance is strongest when we first start to believe something is possible.

The year I love my body & all it can do.

To write more & watch TV less.

To ask more questions & give fewer answers.

To always lead with kindness & not ego.

To regain my trust that things happen for a reason & there are lessons everywhere... as long as I am curious enough to see them.

The year that I will look back on for decades as the most pivotal year of my life.

The year it all came together.

Because I focused on overcoming my limiting beliefs first & foremost.

And because I worked my ass off.

Terms that came to mind when I thought about what future-me looks like:
Confidence, love, leadership, belief, intention, peak performance, kindness, empathy, entrepreneur, awareness, focus, presence, being, learner.

Grab a pen, and take a moment to ask yourself...

Who do you want to become in 2023?
